The Huawei Mate Xs still has one obvious trick the OnePlus 16 cannot match: that huge 8-inch display. If the appeal is a phone that opens up into something closer to a small tablet, the Mate Xs remains the more interesting device for reading, multitasking, maps, and big-screen browsing.

For most people, though, the OnePlus 16 looks like the far easier phone to live with. Its 120Hz display will feel much smoother than the Mate Xs’ 60Hz panel, the extra RAM gives it more breathing room, and the much larger 7300mAh battery is a major advantage for everyday use. The Qualcomm platform also makes it feel like the safer mainstream pick compared with Huawei’s Kirin-based setup.

So this is less about two equal phones and more about priorities. Buy the Mate Xs if the foldable-style big screen is the whole point. Pick the OnePlus 16 if you want the stronger, smoother, longer-lasting daily phone.
