Xiaomi 15T Pro Hands-On Review

The Xiaomi 15T Pro is the latest effort of the brand to rebrand what a flagship smartphone can do at a competitive price. It has a smooth design, a strong chipset and a camera configuration that can compete with the best phones in the market. So, let’s have a closer look at what is special about the 15T Pro.

First Impressions & Design

The moment I took the Xiaomi 15T Pro in my hands, I could sense the quality. It is not very light but good and heavy.

  • Its frame is made of aluminium and feels tough. The matte back design appears smooth and is not easily prone to fingerprints. It can be used without always wiping it off, which is always an advantage.
  • The camera bump, however, is huge. You’ll notice it right away. Put it on a table lying flat, and it balances precariously. It does not become a dealbreaker, yet you are most likely to wish to apply a case to it, which Xiaomi conveniently provides in a box.
  • It is also IP68 certified, hence it does not fear a little water or dust. Gorilla Glass 7i protects the front, and it is likely to be able to deal with daily scratches.
  • The general shape is more boxy than rounded, and the sides are a bit sharper than Xiaomi used to be. Yet, it makes it convenient to hold, though. It appears elegant, hygienic and mature.
  • The 15T Pro does not go too far in terms of design. It’s not flashy. But it is the high end in all respects, easily worth the money.

Display & Audio

Now, let’s speak about the screen, and this is where Xiaomi nailed it totally.

  • The phone features a 6.83-inch AMOLED display, and it indeed appears magnificent. Colours are rich, blacks are deep, and everything looks very crisp.
  • With a refresh rate of 144Hz, scrolls, swipes, and animations will be buttery smooth. It has a peak brightness of up to 3200 nits, which makes the sunshine extremely clear. You can read messages, stream or tap photos without straining your eyes even when outdoors.
  • It also allows DC dimming and is supplied with eye-care certifications, which alleviate flicker in low-brightness light. It looks easy on the eyes when scrolling at late-night or even watching movies.
  • Audio is equally impressive. Dual stereo speakers have good volume and sound. The bass is good, not as deep as a serious speaker, but improved on what most phones can produce.
  • The fingerprint sensor on the under-screen is fast and reliable. It is not an ultrasonic but rather an optical, and it unlocks fast in most cases.

In short, the display and sound are totally of flagship quality a clear strength that sets it apart from other Xiaomi phones in this segment.

Performance & Software

The MediaTek Dimensity 9400+ is the power behind the 15T Pro, and it is a monster. This is a flying phone in real life. Apps load within seconds, multitasking is effortless, and you can switch between games, social apps, and camera mode without even breaking.

I put it to the test with a few heavy games, and they ran them at full settings and still performed well. Frame rates remained steady, graphics were crisp, and I did not find any lag or jitter. The phone does get heated after prolonged gaming sequences, but not to an extent that would render it uncomfortable.

It also has 12GB RAM and storage of up to 1TB, which is more than even power users will need. On the software, HyperOS (an Android 15 version) used by Xiaomi is much cleaner and faster than older versions of MIUI. The interface itself is smooth, and it has much customisation space. You can customise icons, layouts, gestures – everything that is typical of Android. For users exploring popular smartphones in 2025, the smoothness and optimisation here truly stand out compared to most mid-range options.

Cameras & Imaging

Xiaomi 15T Pro is equipped with a 50MP main sensor, a 50MP 5x optical zoom telephoto lens, and a 12MP ultra-wide. The selfie camera is 32MP and provides sharp and flattering images.

The star here is the main camera. During the daytime, photographs are bright and detailed. Colours are natural and vivid, and the range of dynamics is amazing. It is easy to notice the Leica-inspired tuning of Xiaomi; pictures look filmlike and balanced. The main lens works quite well in low light. It does not add excessive noise and brightens the shadows, and you lose details only when it is very dark.

The telephoto camera is simply brilliant. The 5x optical zoom can bring you a clear and in-depth image of distant objects that cannot be done by most phones in this category. AI-assisted digital zoom allows you to zoom deeper, and even at approximately 20x, the quality of the results is usable.

The ultra-wide is a little bit of a mixed bag. It takes excellent landscape pictures in the daytime. The photos, however, lose sharpness and become smoother when the light is low.

On video, there are 4K 120fps and 8K 30fps, and that is great at this price. The daytime scenes are clear, colour is bright, and the stabilisation( optical and electrical) is astonishing.

Battery & Charging

The battery capacity is 5,500 mAh, and that will comfortably last a full day with heavy usage and also longer with light usage. I had between 6-7 hours of screen time, and that is good.

Charging is where things get really good. The phone is charged using both 90W wired and 50W wireless. Plug in, and in about 30 minutes, you can have 0 to 70 per cent. It is fully charged in less than an hour.

What’s Not Perfect?

There is no perfect phone, and the 15T Pro has some rough edges.

  • The largest issue is software and updates. It is not good to launch with Android 15 and not the latest version. The software support at Xiaomi has been better, although it remains behind Google or Samsung.
  • The ultra-wide camera, which I have discussed, is lagging. It is okay with informal snapshots, but it will not yield any breathtaking details in dark conditions.
  • Then there is the weight, it’s not light. After prolonged single-handed use, you will feel it. It also wobbles on flat surfaces due to the large size of the camera bump.
  • In some regions, Xiaomi does not include a high-power charger in the package, which is frustrating. To have full-speed charging, you will have to purchase the 90W adapter separately.
  • Lastly, HyperOS continues to have some traces of MIUI characteristics, including tiny design flaws and the occasional bloat. It is generally clean, though not spotless.

Verdict & Recommendation

Having spent a good time with the Xiaomi 15T Pro, here is my personal evaluation:

This is a powerful phone. It hits the basics, like spectacular display, blistering performance, excellent battery life, and a camera system that beats those of phones selling at much higher prices. The telephoto lens is indeed a master piece, and the 144Hz screen is a pleasure to use daily.

However, it’s not perfect. The ultra-wide might be improved, and the software remains a bit cluttered. Still, none of that diminishes the goodness of this phone when it comes to price.

The Xiaomi 15T Pro is a high-quality choice in case you are on a limited budget but need a high-end experience. It is quick, lovely, trustworthy and designed to show off.
